Terms of Service
By using Nutrogine you agree to these terms. They are short, written in plain English, and not legalese-by-the-yard.
What Nutrogine is
Nutrogine is an information website. It aggregates publicly available nutrition data — from USDA FoodData Central, brand-published nutrition pages, and customer reports — and presents it in a structured, source-cited form.
The site is operated by Alec Zakhary, an independent solo founder. It is not affiliated with USDA, MyFitnessPal, Cal AI, Chipotle, Sweetgreen, Cava, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, or any other brand mentioned on the site.
No medical or dietary advice
Nutrogine is not a substitute for professional medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. The data on this site is for informational purposes only.
- Alec Zakhary is a product manager, not a registered dietitian, doctor, or licensed nutritionist.
- The site does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any condition.
- Don't make medical, dietary, or weight-loss decisions based solely on what you read here. Talk to a real professional.
- Don't use the meal plans on this site if you have a medical condition (diabetes, eating disorder, kidney disease, pregnancy, post-surgery, etc.) without a registered dietitian's review.
Accuracy of nutrition data
We do our best to be accurate. We aggregate from primary sources, cite every number, and update when we learn new things. But:
- Restaurant portions vary by location, employee, and time of day. The number we show is a typical or aggregate value, not a guarantee.
- Brands change recipes. We may not catch the change for weeks.
- USDA data is imperfect — even government databases have errors and revisions.
- Customer reports are subjective.
If your goal requires precise calorie tracking — e.g. cutting weight for a competition or managing a medical condition — verify the numbers with your own measurements or with a registered dietitian. Don't trust any single source, including us.
Your account / waitlist
Right now Nutrogine has no user accounts. The only thing you can sign up for is the waitlist (just an email, double opt-in). See the Privacy Policy for what we do with your email.
Intellectual property
Content on Nutrogine — written articles, comparisons, page structures, the Source Badges concept, design, and code — belongs to us. You can:
- Cite us with a link back. We love that.
- Quote short passages (under 60 words) for commentary or fair-use purposes.
- Take a screenshot for personal reference or social media.
You can't:
- Republish our pages wholesale on another site.
- Train an AI model on our content without permission.
- Scrape the site at scale (RSS / sitemap is fine for normal indexing).
Brand names, logos, and trademarks of restaurants and apps mentioned (Chipotle, Cal AI, etc.) belong to their respective owners. We mention them under fair use for editorial commentary.
USDA FoodData Central data is in the public domain (CC0). We attribute it but don't claim ownership.
Limitation of liability
Nutrogine is provided "as is", with no warranties. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any damages — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from your use of the site or its data.
If you ate the wrong macros and missed your goal, that's between you and your fridge.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. The "Effective" date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be announced via email to waitlist subscribers.
